Las Vegas just came off its biggest weekend of the year, New Years Eve. The City that Never Sleeps had little time to rest up for its second biggest weekend; Valentine’s Day. This is going to be the sixth year in a row that Las Vegas will be America’s most popular Valentine’s Day destination. All year long Vegas is full of romance for couples, but what makes the 14th of February so special? Weddings!

Over 100,000 couples choose Las Vegas to get married each year. There are over 50 wedding chapels and most major resorts have their own. You have to look past the numbers and understand what is so special about getting married in the Entertainment Capital of the World. Traditional, unusual, romantic or just quick, Las Vegas offers everything for weddings and they are performed 24 hours a day. This year Valentine’s Day falls on a Thursday so most couples will take advantage of this and make it a four day weekend. Getting married is the priority for couples on this weekend, but what other Valentine’s Day festivities can they enjoy? Here are a few.

Las Vegas is the entertainment Capital of the World. Visitors come from So Cal by the millions to enjoy the gambling, shows, sporting events, shopping, world class restaurants, pool parties and a fantastic nightlife. When people think of Las Vegas, partying and gambling are the first things to come to mind. Many of these visitors find even more, namely romance.

Couples can find romance in an authentic Venetian gondola as they glide down the Grand Canal at the Venetian Las Vegas. A romantic dinner for two can be enjoyed 800 feet above the Las Vegas Strip at the Top of the World revolving restaurant at the Stratosphere Tower. Stunning imagery and romantic Beatles ballads makes Love Cirque du Soleil at the Mirage the Las Vegas show for sweethearts.

Living in Los Angeles compels people to drive from L A to Las Vegas to enjoy the ultimate adult playground. Gambling, drinking, strip clubs, concerts and general debauchery await those who make the trip. Vegas is close enough to Los Angeles (4 to 5 hours) that all this and more can be enjoyed over a weekend.

You may start from Beverly Hills on the 405 freeway or Huntington Beach on the 101.Perhaps you are coming from Fullerton on the 91. Whichever freeway your journey begins with, it will ultimately lead you to the only freeway to Vegas from L A; the I-15. Once on the I-15 heading to Las Vegas the first obstacle is the steep grade heading up to Cajon Pass. Cajon Pass is a mountain Pass between the San Bernardino Mountains and the San Gabriel Mountains. This grade is the first place that you can expect delays. Often it is just normal traffic but if there is an accident you are in for a long wait. As you sit motionless in your car you will see some beautiful scenery including a freight train chugging up the hill on its way to Vegas as well. Will that train make it to Sin City before you?
