Arriving to the airport 2 hours before our flights is just one of many ways our lives have changed since 9/11. To insure nothing goes wrong when we pass through security we have accepted it as an added cost to air travel. If time is money, then the price of air travel is going up again thanks to the national budget sequester. According to the travel industry be prepared to add up to another hour of wait time thanks to the mandatory spending cuts coming from Washington DC on March 1, 2013.

Top congressional aides and the U.S. Travel Association say under the looming budget sequester, an hour will be added to security waits at the nation's largest and busiest airports due to necessary Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and U.S. Custom and Border Protection furloughs required to meet the funding cuts. Security is not the only place we can expect to wait longer. Mandatory cuts in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will reduce air traffic control staff resulting in longer delays.

"It is time for Washington to solve problems rather than create potentially devastating new crises. The 14.4 million Americans whose jobs depend on travel, the two million Americans who fly each day and the millions more who take to the roads and rails to drive the American economy are counting on our elected officials to deliver results that keep our nation competitive and attractive to travelers around the globe," said Roger Dow, President of the U.S., Travel Association.

Washington is not known for their problem solving skills. We can anticipate sequester will happen, we can anticipate an additional hour wait at the airport and we can anticipate looking for an alternative to air travel.

The hundreds of thousands of people who fly from Southern California to Las Vegas and back again each year will soon have an alternative to flying; and it is not taking the long and dangerous drive along the I 15 Freeway through the desert. Soon the Las Vegas Railway Express, Inc. (The Vegas X Train) will be providing luxury rail travel from Southern California to Las Vegas and back again. The Vegas X Train will be a welcome relief to the So Cal travelers who just could not wait another hour with the airlines.

This is exciting. It would be nice to be able to sleep on the way back from vegas instead of driving
